WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- On Friday night on WWAY we featured a preview of the 18th Annual Leon Brogden Holiday Baketball Tournament that will tip off on Monday at UNCW's Trask Coliseum. The Hoggard boys basketball team won the Shootout by the Sea on Friday in Myrtle Beach. The Vikings beat Nation Ford 47-45. Senior Darius Plummer hit a shot at the buzzer to win the game for the Vikings. Hoggard trailed by six points late in the fourth quarter, but they scored the last eight points of the game. Plummer was named the tourney's MVP. Hoggard Tyler Thayer also made the all-tournament team.

In men's college basketball in Hawaii the Clemson Tigers beat Southern Illinois 83-75 in overtime in the Diamondhead Classic. Brad Brownell is currently in his second season as the head coach at Clemson. Brownell is a former UNCW head basketball coach.
