BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Even through the holidays the ongoing saga involving a Brunswick County Commissioner continues. This week Commissioner Charles Warren filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office.

The incident report Warren filed yesterday says the commissioner felt threatened. In the report he says the attack came in the form of a YouTube video in his e-mail.

A video comparing Warren to late North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il started making the rounds online last week.

In it you see grieving crowds apparently saddened by what the video calls the future removal of their “dear DSS leader Charles Warren.” It’s a mocking comparison to Kim, who North Koreans called “the dear leader.”

The video apparently made its way to Warren’s e-mail inbox.

In a report filed with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Warren says he received the video last week, which he found threatening.

The video emerged after Warren was ejected from a Brunswick County Commission meeting for being disruptive. It’s the same thing he claimed when ejecting a reporter and board member from a county DSS Board meeting days earlier.

But the North Korean video is not the only one poking fun at Commissioner Warren. We also found another video with Warren has been posted on YouTube by the same user: Brunswick 1764. In this video you see Warren edited to look like he’s dancing.

The clips used for this video are of Warren being escorted from the commission meeting.

Back to the commissioner’s complaint, the Sheriff’s Office says investigators are looking into Warren’s claims.

We tried to contact Commissioner Warren to ask about this recent complaint, but we have not heard back from him.

We also reached out through YouTube to the person who posted the videos. So far no response from that person, either.

If you feel so strongly why use an alias. Use your name.

Remember the case of Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Falwell (1988). This Youtube video looks like a parody to me. I’m not comparing this video to the Hustler case directly. Yet the decision of the courts seems to apply. Here’s a link on that case:

I believe if this particular ‘shoe’ was on your foot, you’d be equally outraged. This is no commentary one way or the other on his abilities as a public servant, but everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. The youtube video was demeaning, humiliating and embarrassing. Period.
