LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland resident and WWAY viewer Earl Goodman announced he’s started a blog to, “do what Leland Town Officials, Federal, and State Authorities will not do and that is fix the Leland Police Department.”

A link to his blog is below. Here’s what he wrote on the site….

Welcome to this site. My New Years Resolution is to do what Leland Town Officials, Federal, and State Authorities will not do and that is fix the Leland Police Department.

As a citizen of the United States, I will be utilizing all of my Civil Rights to expose criminal and unethical misconduct by Leland Officials. I will also pose the question as to why the Brunswick County District Attorney waited so long to do anything when the allegations first arose. Our District Attorney knew about allegations against the police department soon after taking office. As recently as October, he stated he had no knowledge of any accusations. This movement will show an existing knowledge. This movement also has contacted terminated employees of Leland Police Department, former colleagues of the Leland Police Chief, former employees of the District Attorney. All of this will show a patter of misinformation, misleading statements, and downright incompetence by local and state officials.

After the holiday, I will be contacting town officials, county officials to begin the process of organizing protests/demonstrations. I will also be working on marketing material(T Shirts and Bumper Stickers) to help promote our cause. Yes, I say our cause because this is about my future, my kids future, and the future of your children. I hope to use a grassroots campaign, similar to that of the Occupy Movement.

I invite you to join me as part of the “Fix Leland Movement.”

If you have a story or have information, please share in confidence to our Fix Leland email address. That is address is fixlelandpolice@gmail.com

I realize I will now have a target on my back from the Leland Police. Growing up in rural America, I am no stranger in having to rely on myself and my own instincts.

The “Fix Leland Movement” will be a peaceful, legal, organization. We do encourage, nor will participate in the violation of state, federal, or local laws. Our mission is simple, expose the corruption by those hired to protect us!

We have started an online petition to present to the Town Council of Leland and, if needed, the Governor’s Office of North Carolina. Our petition will ask the Town of Leland to disband the Police Department and have the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department take over until a new police department can be formed.

The town council has the ability to make this request. If they choose not to act and the Governor’s Office feels it warranted they can ask the Sheriff to take over Town Municipalities.

If you wish you remain anonymous, you MUST CHECK THE BOX TO HIDE YOUR INFORMATION.

We realize with the criminals running the police department, citizens are in fear for their safety.

Click below for the petition. We will be gathering signatures until February 4, 2012.

    Justin and Old Guy…

since I am posting comments, I will punctate however I please.

Secondly, I do and will always support guys like that instead of the likes of you fellas because they have the balls to do the job.

I have a mild suggestion…Why don’t you two fella’s go get trained, get hired somewhere and work the job for a while. Then we will see if your opinion has changed then.

only thing that happened today was the loss of leadership in a small town but growing town’s law enforcement.

And like ya’ll, I can judge too. I judge their actions are not as bad as you, WWAY and pickey have painted them to be.

Can’t wait to hear what you and the merry band of hippies have to say next.

  • guesty says:

You don’t have to own property to be a resident of a town. There are these new dwellings called apartments, maybe you have heard of them.

  • guesty says:

We are more concerned with your husbands mental state since he seems to think it is ok to pull his service weapon on co-workers as well as fire rounds off into the air. I’m much more concerned about that than a past due tax bill.

  • kblue2221984 says:

Take Village road to “TIMILLICKY” Drive!!!Say’s who? Say’s Kblue!

  • KBlueFanClub says:

It’s a dead end no? You’re the bestest Blue!

  • GuestTax says:

You were so concerned that it took you two and a Half months to pay once u were made aware of the amount owed. Either money is tight or you just don’t give a damn.

  • Scott Pickey says:

Leland Resident – there has always been an open invitation to anyone, from either the Town of Leland or the Leland Police Department, to sit down with us, go on the record, and tell us that what we’ve reported so far is not true.

So far, not one person has stepped up and done that.

    Why is that?

    We stand by our stories.

    sp

    Scott Pickey
    WWAY News Director

  • YeahRight says:

You nor your husband are good people. Especially YOU! Nice try! Everyone will know all your dirty secrets soon! You must be made of plastic, you’re so fake. I hope the pain you and him have caused others comes back on you times ten!

Pay your bills! Are you going to take blame for all of the accusations made against Jonn? Maybe you should!

  • Guest93985767484 says:

What are her dirty little secrets?

  • Leland Resbethpidgeon@ho says:

Interesting that you will not publicly post my response to this question..your “non post” speaks for itself… I will keep observing this blog, as well as the other blog against Leland that you are sponsoring, only to collect the lies that are being put in print.

  • GuestLovesAFreePress says:

123, did Blasingame ever pay for the rounds he expended into the air?

  • Leland Red says:

You might also add, does this Mr Goodman have any affiliation with SCOTT PICKEY AND WWAY? Once again, it only this tabloid news station giving voice to this smear campaign. The “thinking” people of Leland know the facts of this situation, we will not be influenced or pressured by the likes of Pickey, Cox and the disgruntled police officers who should have been let go long ago. The readers of this blog should stop and research these people..before they put their names to any bogus list of lies and accusations! The leaders of our town will not be manipulated or threatened by people with obvious agendas, none of which has anything to do with the betterment of Leland!

  • Defender of Truth says:

Before you go attacking Mr. Pickey and WWAY, search through Star News and WECT Archives. They all have done multiple stories on Leland. Remember the “What’s The Story with LA Law” segment Star News did.

I don’t know Mr. Pickey and personally don’t watch WWAY that often but I do love to read these message boards.

You Leland Red sound like the one with the smear campaign.

  • TaxCollector says:

What a great idea Guest 4000! Officer Blassingame will go first. He has unpaid vehicle taxes from 2007 in the amount of $111. His wife owes a little something as well. Who’s next?

    http://tax.brunsco.net/TaxAdmin/VehiclePages/VehicleInfo.aspx?Owner=BLASINGAME%20JONN%20CHRISTIAN

  • BraceYourselfEarl says:

Do tax-paying, law-abiding, concerned citizens have to have “credentials” to take action against an obviously corrupt PD? I hope the right people or enough people step in to support you, Earl, because you are going to be in for one heck of a fight. Just look at how they treat their own. So far they’ve been untouchable and people that deluded and unchecked do some crazy things.

  • Tax collector2 says:

Check it out Holman also can’t afford to pay his $26.31 overdue car taxes either so what’s the big deal?

  • Guest 4545 says:

I don’t know Goodman but I do know Leland PD. So I think I’ll stick with Goodman until I’m given a reason not to.
I think you too know that Goodman is on to something, don’t worry the truth will set you free.

  • Challengetheworld says:

    Guest 4000:

Do you work for Mr. Jayne? Do you work at the Leland Police Department? Do you get this paranoid normally when someone stands up against wrong doing? Does it matter if he ever went to a damn council meeting?

LPD is screwed up. Leland is screwed up. The town needs new leadership.

  • Jack Mehoff says:

Who are you? And why would you have a problem with weeding out the corruption that every Leland resident who has been targeted by the LPD is well aware of?

  • Guest28451 says:

and I have plenty of inside info and either you are one of the Jayne thug clan or your drinking koolaide. Trust me Jayne, Blasingame and the other cronies are all going to be answering to the State and possible the Feds for whats been going on and I cant wait. Jayne is like every other idiot sheriff and Police chief in NC and VA among others who think they are above the law only to be brought down to earth when they hear the cell slam shut at the Fed Prison farm.

  • GuestTaxed2Death says:

The answer is simple. Blasingame is a sociopath, a loose nut behind the firing mechanism of his gun. Holman is a victim of hostile work environment. Jayne is a turd in a punchbowl.

  • Taxes.... says:

What’s the big deal about his taxes? I don’t pay mine until time to renew my tags, just like millions of other Americans. Just because somebody owes 30 bucks for their taxes shows nothing. We all have a right to our opinions but some of you people are taking this overboard… And since we brought in taxes, it doesn’t look like Mr. Goodman owns any property in Leland but instead is a resident of New Hanover County. Things that make you go hmmmmm….

  • TaxCollector says:

My name is “tax collector”,but I’m really just an ordinary tax paying citizen. My tax dollars pay for his and others’ salaries so he can skip out paying his own tax bills? I don’t think so. I also think FIVE years is adequate time to pay what is owed. Financial irresponsibilty is just a symptom of this person’s dysfunction. This is only what could be found through public records. I can only imagine what else is out there.

I also ask that you go back and read the title of my original post. Since Holman is no longer a member of LPD, I have no idea why my imitator brought him up.

  • Leland Res123 says:

This epitome of the kinds of people writing and believing this garbage be spewed by Pickey and his ilk…

  • Bean Counter says:

Holman is too busy dodging punches. Besides, his taxes are a few months over due. Blassingame’s are five years overdue. Big difference. Chill out, Rany Rhodes.

  • Guest6789 says:

Sounds like you are one of the dwindling few who still can’t or won’t believe that there is corruption and cover-up in LA!! Assaulting an officer during a training exercise, an officer pulling his gun on fellow officers TWICE, hindering an accident investigation involving a LPD Lieutenant, Jayne assaulting an officer then trying to bribe him to keep quiet – what more do you want? The only people that don’t want anyone believing there is corruption – the “disgruntled workers” argument – are those that will lose when the truth comes out; the people in charge of the police department and the town council that refuses to do anything. Keep posting your attacks on those that have had the courage to bring this abuse to light and expose this culture of corruption!! The petition grows – the citizens are getting tired of this thuggery!! It may work on the officers but won’t on the citizens!!

  • CheckAgain says:

You might want to check those records again. He owns at least six pieces of property, mostly all appearing to be in Leland, and he even has a street named after him. How many does any LPD officer have named after him? Um NONE. Hmmmmmmmm.

  • CheckAgain says:

The Star-News just reported on it, it being the “smear campaign”. Don’t hate on WWAY because they were first.

Isn’t it supposed to be grounds for termination for LPD officers to be posting now? Weren’t spouses and family members instructed to stop as well? Oh, I get it. That only gets enforced if you speak out AGAINST Jayne, the department, and the bad apples.

  • Guestknowitall says:

Mr. Goodman seems to have more education and morals than the Chief of LPD. Who cares if he is a friend of the commissioners? I agree,… clean house! This corruption has been going on since Sanders was chief. Ask former LPD officers how many times Sanders son was pulled for speeding,….or the time he was in a high speed chase and Sanders said he would “handle it himself”. Ironically a month later, Leland adopted a “no chase” policy. Clean the house!

  • Stephanie Blasingame says:

For the record…… We sold the Honda Civic 5 years ago and I have NEVER received a letter or anything saying we owed $111 dollars in taxes, but I can assure you it will be taken care of. I do the bills, not Jonn, so this is on me. Thank you for your deep concern for our financial wellbeing! It is greatly apprecited. It’s nice to know there are still some GOOD people in this world that have a genuine concern for others!!!!

  • Kbluefan4life says:

Don’t listen to them Blue! Keep it up!!!!

  • GuestDickHertz says:

Hey Blue…. the more you write, the more I believe what you say is true! I was reading the blog about the mess in Leland and saw some pictures of some ladies kind of licking each other and thought that this was flipping hilarious! Truthfully, I don’t care what folks do with each other behind closed doors but with equal truthfulness I have no interest in seeing these ladies licking each other.

I’m curious, do the men in these families engage in homo eroticism also??? Dang, I’d wet myself laughing if these big-belly vinnies from Leland were “comforting” each other….

    BADA BING

  • SkankRepeller says:

Yeah, the one of that long faced gal getting spanked makes me a nauseous. CLASSYYYYY.

  • Guest461 says:

If kblew had ANY buddies, he wouldn’t be wasting so much time trying to play the riddle making “Joker” here. He COULD be out on the range sharpening his severely deficient marksmanship skills!

  • KBlueFanClub says:

    We love you Blue!!!!

  • kblue2221984 says:

“My people have spoken, It is now time to take action” Say’s who? Say’s everyone’s buddy Kblue!

  • GuestNope says:

    “Everyone’s buddy, Kblue”????

    Not everyone’s…..buddy.

  • Guest55555 says:

KBlue’s fan club probably has only one member…and it’s KBlue himself…yes, that means YOU.

  • kblue2221984 says:

Your grounded! Go to your shed!! Say’s who? Say’s Kblue!

  • Unbelievable says:

You people are unreal. Do you all not have anything better to do than search news stories from other states and try to pin them on Leland officers? Grow up and get over yourselves. Last I noticed, this Leland citizen and a lot of others are doing just fine.

  • ofc.5532 says:

Officers know once a corruption is exposed in a department they will all be labeled according with what bad decisions another officer makes. In respect to this issue the good officers need to step up and make the difference, I understand that is alot of pressure. As an officer I was sworn in to protect the laws of NC not to break them. I was told yesterday about a Leland officer who decided to drink at a local bar and later became disruptive this past weekend. Enough is enough I am truly disgusted at the actions of most of the leland officers. For the couple of professional officers at the PD good luck.

  • Problems says:

So Lewis, Foss, and Holman are the problems? Maybe only to Jayne and his henchmen. They are VICTIMS, not problems. The LPD must really think citizens are stupid.

  • LiveinLeland says:

Not all of them are bad, some of them are good Officers but the bad list is longer. I would rather see a new Chief come in and clean house and get rid of everyone involved, it would be nice to to see the bad group leave. If your not in the group then they don’t care about you and want you gone. As for the ticket comment if you get a ticket from one of them go to court like me and everyone else has done and when the Judge decides that its a petty violation then mybe he will take care of the problem.

  • Guest32 says:

Very true. All of the officers are not bad.. Please give them a chance. Its only a few that are at a wrong doing.

  • Guest7890 says:

I applaud Mr. Goodman in his efforts to affect change at the Leland Police Department. It has been quite obvious over the past year that the leadership of the town has neither the courage or conviction to stand up for what is right, address the problem, and fix it, even if that involves dismantling the entire department and starting fresh, like they did in Spring Lake and Bolton. LPD is at the point where it is too corrupt to fix with a few personnel changes since it is the culture of corruption that exists in an environment that encourages it. Mr. Goodman only has to research the WWAY site, along with the Star News and now WECT to find stories about the problems in the department. And there are many former and current officers that will be more then willing to provide their support. The citizens of Leland deserve better then what they have now – Mr. Goodman, my you have my support and best wishes!! Hang in there – you are right, they will come after you with anything they can make up to discredit you!!

  • You’re research will show that not every officer has been a part of the conduct listed. There are good officers that work for the Leland Police Department and there’s no reason they should suffer. Get rid of the problems and let the officers who have tried to do right and keep from becoming victims themselves move on to serve our community.

  • Guest 4000 says:

Who is this guy Goodman? Who does he work for? Has he ever been to a council meeting? Has he ever been a public servant or volunteered for public service? Is he a law enforcement expert? Is he a lawyer? Is he on the faculty of the UNC School of Government? What are his credentials? Does he really live in the town of Leland? Does he pay his taxes? Does he have a criminal record? Has he been ticketed for some driving offense? Does he have ties to Wilmington? Does he have ties to corporations over there? Does he have some friends in politics over there? Does he have an axe to grind? Does he have relatives in law enforcement? Is he a friend of county commissioner(s)? Before anyone follows this Pied Piper, better find out more about him.

  • RSimmons says:

Good Luck with that! You won’t make it from the KFC to the firehouse before one of Jayne’s thugs has you on the side of the road for every made up infraction they can think of.

  • guesty says:

Sorry chuckles, I came across that story and seeing how Blasingame has been accused of doing the exact same thing, it is fitting. It shows how one persons irresponsibility can effect others. You may be doing fine but there are plenty of others in Leland that are not and are fed up with the children running that department.

  • Just another Guest says:

After reading the blog, its obvious this guy is a wacko. Sure, go for it, what have I got to lose watching you? Nothing. What do you have to lose? Who knows, we’ll find out though as after reading your last post, “What To Do If You are Pulled Over My Current Leland Police Employees”. Wow. You’re on a fast track to nowhere. Go ahead and not stop for a cop, call 911 all you want. It looks like you’re baiting them and want to be pulled just so you can make accusations.

You’re a hoot. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

  • getsome says:

Grass roots, voting and making officals like the governor aware of this corruption is the only way to fix this. The city council is blind, the DA is complacent, and the town manager is inept. Who suffers, the citzens of leland.

  • deputy 25 says:

good luck! but if you are going to have a peaceful, legal organization and will not violate, local, state and federal laws, then do not compare yourself to the ‘OCCUPY MOVEMENT’, man they were the worst. just go out and be fix Leland movement and do it with peace. beware of who you let in and let stand with you on these protest. wolves in sheep’s clothing!!!

  • Retired Firefighter says:

Would just like to extend a hearty good job to my brothern in blue with the Leland Police Department. I know there are plenty of people out there that question the manner in which you enforce the law who are too afraid to go get trained and learn how to enforce said laws from the inside. They resort to local press mediums that feed off of peoples over active imaginations as well as their lack of adult supervision. I have to question their own integrity and honor with what they are trying to change or if their so called self righteous actions are some sort of vendetta.

I would like to ask a few questions to the “movement” people and pickey. What happened to presumption of innocence? Why don’t you post all responses and not just a “select” few that fuel your intentions?

Do you know what happens to news agencies and reporters that go out of their way to try and embarass people or others? They are found out of the loop and not given information. This is how WWAY and their competation generally works. If they are not given information that suffices, they fabricate to sensalize the story.

Do work Leland Police Department, your “brothers” got your back.

  • Jayne Fan says:

    Very nicely written Chief Jayne!

  • Justin America says:

A better question would be, who in there right mind would join a group like this. BTW, for me, presumption of innocence disappears when a group of people testify; “I just watched you do it.” Also, people who have integrity and honor capitalize proper names and titles; think, News Director, Mr. Pickey. Otherwise, they start to seem a little self-righteous.

  • Old Guy says:

I don’t know if a retired firefighter can judge whether or not a Law Enforcement Officer has the right to point his service weapon at another fellow officer’s head and say bang. Or better yet walk into an office and point his service weapon at another officer’s chest and say bang. As a citizen I would just like to say I don’t believe he should and then keep his job. As one who really knows the extent of what these guys are capable of everyone within the jurisdiction of Leland Township you need to be keeping your head down and your powder dry. You must not have been keeping up with what is really going on. Read more and more of only what the administration has come out with not just the media. They are the ones that have made statements and committed crimes that will not be unanswered! If you have these guys back then you need to join up with them and be one of their boys! They would harass you, retaliate and discriminate against you too!
Just one more thing Mr. Blasingame has stated several times in public that if he ever got pushed into a corner he would start shooting until everyone was dead and then claim it was his “condition” and get off of any charges that might come his way. This is the kind of guy you are behind. Really?? These guys are your brothers??? You are really sad!
Vicadan and oxycotin are his best friends given to him by our government. Check into it? Steroids??????????????
Go ahead Scott we need to topple this regime!

P.S. Any third grader could tell you that pointing a gun at anybody without probable cause is not only stupid but very, very dangerous!

  • I live in leland says:
