WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- After several hours in a standoff, the Wilmington Police Department has arrested Andrew Bernard Adams, a murder suspect, at a house at 815 N. 6th Street.

According to Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evalgelous, Adams is suspected to be involved in the death investigation that began earlier Friday. Investigators discovered a woman's body buried in the yard of a home at 1115 Cowan St. Evangelous says Adams is a convicted serial rapist.

According to Police Department spokeswoman Lucy Crockett, the US Marshal Violent Fugitive Task Force was attempting to serve a warrant to Adams when he barricaded himself inside the house.

prime example

This is another prime example of our judicial system. This man should never see the light of day as a free man but here he is in Wilmington. And, a young lady is dead because of it. The police catch him, the courts, lawyers and judicial system let him go. If that had been my daughter this man would not be safe, anywhere, ever again.

Darn

Too bad he didn't reach for a weapon.

If he is a serial (many)

If he is a serial (many) convicted (already been tried) rapist, why is he NOT in jail? The legal system is responsible for this woman's death if he indeed is the killer.

Nope

There's no one responsible for this young woman's death except the perp himself. The "legal system" can only deal out the punishment that's on the books. If you want the laws changed, contact your representatives and work to get them changed.
