GREENSBORO, NC (AP) — A federal judge says she has two letters from a cardiologist saying ex-presidential candidate John Edwards has a life-threatening condition that will require surgery in February.

The letters were revealed during a hearing Friday to consider whether the 58-year-old ex-North Carolina Senator would go on trial later this month for alleged campaign finance violations.

Attorneys for Edwards were seeking a 60-day delay to allow time for Edwards to recover. The judge delayed the trial to March 26.

Edwards was in court at the judge’s request, although doctors advised him to avoid travel and all court proceedings.

Prosecutors say they’re ready to try Edwards on six felony and misdemeanor counts related to nearly $1 million from wealthy donors used to help hide his pregnant mistress during his 2008 While House run.

Someone needs to tell the cardiologist they are wasting their time.

There’s no cure for Edward’s hard, black, cheating heart. :)

What kind of “life threatening” condition allows you to wait a month before treatment?

Avoid travel and above all else, court?

Something tells me that our official state liar surrounds himself with liars.

How much did he pay for this diagnoses?

What they said was in February which could mean a matter of a couple weeks basically. Then again if Edwards has BCBS it could be their fault he’s having to wait for treatment. Ive had nothing but a nightmare experience with the idiots in claims at BCBS first off trying to spit back stuff as pre-existing despite having previous coverage adn notifying them 3X (part o fmy previous coverage was with them to boot). They even had the nerve to claim my severe injury I suffered which has had me out of work now nearly a year as pre-existing despite the fact I was injured in a fall at my house nearly 2 months after my most recent policy went into effect.. Now that being said I was put through the ringer and finally was able to get surgery approved nearly 8 months after I was injured but not to the extent my surgeon felt it necessary but as something needed to be done we proceeded forward. Now flash forward to the last 2 weeks. My pain and neurological issues have returned with a vengence and likely Im facing MAJOR surgery this time which should have been done originally and yes in fact as it stands now Im at risk of potentially permenant injury and disability but thanks to Good ole BCBS of NC I have to wait till we get permission to do what should have been done months ago.. So for those wondering why its taking awhile for something serious to be resolved. It may very well be the crappy insurance company at fault like in so many cases (those group and individual polices setup under Federal Regulations are the most insidious because the NC Dept of Ins has little power to go after them and your legal recourse is very limited to a lawsuit to force the insurance company to comply with acceptable medical procedure standards and as such hardly any lawyers will touch such cases because there is nearly no money in the cases unless you can prove the Ins company is acting maliciously and arbitrarily against you..).

Summary: Yeah John Edwards is dirty but there could very well be a good reason why his procedure isnt being done sooner. It also could be that he has to have more tests run prior which may involve a fair amt of radiation and due to safety concerns they may have to spread them out over a timeframe in order also to avoid side-effects of higher then normal radiation levels considered safe in the short term.

Most people that have a life threatening cardiac condition undergo surgery immediately. This sounds like some sort of fishy manipulative tactic.
