WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council voted unanimously to pass the annexation of a residential project in the area of Market Street and Marsh Oaks Drive.

Flournoy Development wants to build up to 450 units in an apartment complex on 27 acres of land in the area. Project managers have proposed creating a concrete median on Market between Marsh Oaks Drive and Alexander Road, limiting the number of left turns.

Several residents spoke out against the plan, saying the development would snarl traffic and alter the atmosphere of the community.

Next, the council will review a site plan for the project.

The City of Wilmington prostituted its for $70,000. Flournoy should be proud of how it influenced the city “staff” in presenting the snow job to the City Council. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Don’t discount that the “liberal elites,” many of whom park their copious rear ends on the Wilmington City Council always have a goal to ram low-cost housing into affluent neighborhoods. They hate successful people, plus it gives their favorite constituents a higher class of burglary opportunities.

Let’s face it – if you were a burglar would you rather walk around the corner to break into an apartment in Houston Moore or walk around the corner and break into a nice home in Marsh Oaks? (Assuming you weren’t looking for drugs.)

It is just shame that the City Council just sees money. They went against the County Commissioners and the people in the county. Then they try to say they are looking out for the people. Are they kidding. No one is falling for that.. I would love to find out what the developer promised. They stabbed the people of the area in the back and they can’t vote them out next election.

Thank you very much City Council !!!!!

Get over yourselves. I want to be able to go to Wilmington -support your economy and enjoy myself. I am glad your local politicians are helping yall out. If anything you all should be disgusting with the low property values around the area. You need parks, schools, and hospitals to increase these values. Now do you get the jist????

Well, when the election comes around we need to all beat feet down to the polls with signs and encourage people to get these thugs out of office. Some have been in the seats too long and its time for the to go! The Mayor will be the first one to pack his bags!

….it’s time to invest in a good alarm system and a firearm.

IF this “satellite” annexation comes to be, and the apartments are built, what happens during an emergency? Fire, police emergency, whatever…the problem belongs to the city and the duty to respond belongs to city emergency services. If something were to happen within the traditional city limits and the needed resources were in the satellite section of the city, what is the response time going to look like when minutes count?

By name, to whom are you referring as “liberal elites” besides Saffo? Oh, and quit using code words, you chicken. Why don’t you just say what you mean?

Just what we need mor people and traffic in the ogden area! Then more sales tax!Ok is city trying to make a bad economy even worse! The citizens in ogden are not getting anything but a major headache out of this situation!

Marsh Oaks…double lock your doors, install a security system and some automatic lights…cause the section 8 crew is COMING TO TOWN BABY!!! I bet your crime rate at least DOUBLES the first year…

I hope they don’t think this is going to get them the ability to FORCE annex whats in between as a “hardship”…YOU CHOSE to annex it..YOU PAY FOR IT!
