ASHEVILLE, NC (AP) — A guard with an armored car company in western North Carolina has been charged with embezzlement.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported police on Wednesday charged 66-year-old Paul Russell Webb with
taking $20,000 from Loomis Fargo Trucking in Arden earlier this month.

Asheville Police Lt. Wally Welch says his department became involved when security officials with the company began investigating missing money.

Welch says Webb returned the money about a week after the investigation begin, telling investigators he wanted to make a point about poor security at the business.

It was not clear if Webb has an attorney.
