WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- In Kitchen Cops today a low performer and it is not the first time for Ken's Bagels at Seagate which is located at 5906 unit A Oleander Dr in Wilmington.
Inspectors found a list of violations including:
A slicer stored dirty.
The ice machine has mold.
Drink dispenser needs cleaning.
Containers and lids stored dirty.
Bagel boards with mold.
Sausage stored on stove at 83 degrees, it needs to be at least 135 degrees.
And other cleaning and repair issues.
All told a low 87 for Ken's Bagels
And, this is not the first time Ken’s has been on our low performer list, they received an 88 on July, 20th of 2011, and an 87 on June 21st, 2011.
I was a baker when they
I was a baker when they first opened, always pushed out top quality product. One issue the inspectors always had was the method and equipment used in the baking operations. Wilmington had never seen a made from scratch, kettle boiled baking process. The boards do get moldy due to the proofing process, but still no excuse for not changing them out.
Kens
Ken's Bagels has been and will always be the yummiest and best place to eat a bagel, have breakfast with your family or grab a quick delicious lunch sandwich. I will continue to go and enjoy their great food!

It has been many years now that Kens bagels has not been good at all. It doesn't surprise me that they have been getting low scores. Since Ken sold the business years ago it's been down hill...
