SALISBURY, NC (AP) — A Salisbury man has been arrested and charged after sheriff’s deputies say he tried to sell about 400 pounds of metal he had stolen.
The Salisbury Post reported that 28-year-old Bradley Keith Hampton was charged with 20 felonies earlier this week.
Rowan County sheriff’s deputies say Hampton was questioned by deputies as about 400 pounds of metal was being weighed at the scrap yard.
Investigators say they determined the steel frame supports had been taken from an auto parts store in Salisbury.
Detectives say Hampton had sold metal to at least two businesses on more than a dozen occasions.
Hampton was charged with 12 counts of felony larceny and eight counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.
It was unclear if he has an attorney.
