WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police arrested a man early Saturday morning for a Friday afternoon bank robbery. Detectives had gotten a warrant Friday for 26-year-old Brenden Paul Kolterjahn, 26, in connection with the armed robbery of the TD Bank at 802 S. College Road.

Officers developed information Friday evening that Kolterjahn was at the Travelodge at 4118 Market Street. WPD
units converged on the scene and made contact with Kolterjahn. He surrendered without incident around 2 a.m.

The arrest came a little more than 12 hours after the bank robbery. Police say the suspect had a note threatening bank tellers with a gun, but he never showed a weapon. Employees handed over cash and the robber left.

Kolterjahn was booked into the New Hanover County Jail under $25,000 secured bond. According to Department of Corrections records, Kolterjahn is on five years probation for a May 2009 conviction in Onslow County on a series of crimes, including breaking & entering, forgery and obtaining property by false pretense.

Upstanding

A real upstanding member of society... Really, though, $25,000.00 bond? Couldn't we have done better than that? Can anyone tell me how long they think he'll be in prison before being let out to terrorize the world again? I'm curious.

Thankful

I'm just thankful that no one was hurt. It all ended peacefully and he is now behind bars where he should be. The bank employees and the police were all able to go home to their families. It could have ended in so many other ways.

He is kinda cute:)

He is kinda cute:)

You likely thought the same of Berger...

...they do have a resemblance in stature...and character...

ha

The guys think so too.

I Rest My Case

You see guys this is how a robbery situation should be handled. Professionals in an organized fashion captured the suspect within hours. Nobody gets hurt, no idiot goes for a gun on either side, nobody fires off rounds in a store where others could be injured and as common says "The Good Guys Win" and the dirt bag is off the street. Civilized behavior! End of story.

Maybe you shouldn't rest your case just yet....

Two thugs enter a small mom and pop store, they kill the owner as well as the one customer inside as they rob it. Good guys loose. http://www.wral.com/news/local/video/10656692/#/vid10656692

Any further questions stupid? Liberal sheep!!!

"Civilized behavior." Something tells me that ol' Mikey....

...has led a very gentle, Winnie-the-Pooh-Wonderful, pastel colored life. He's expecting people to show civilized behavior toward uncivilized animals who would just as soon kill you as look at you.

He obviously never had to fight for his own life or ran into someone who will beat you unconscious simply because they're bored.

Cooperate and you often get killed anyway

This worthless bag of fecal matter will now be coddled and the taxpayers will spend hundreds of thousands feeding, clothing, and housing him. The good guys didn't win, the good guys got suckered by a corrections system that has totally collapsed.

BTW, while I could easily come up with several dozen cases where "cooperative victims" were killed, I'll leave you with just one, from last June 20th. You may remember it:

"Laffer allegedly walked into Haven Drugs in Medford a little after 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. He shot all four victims execution style and stole a backpack full of prescription painkillers."

"Investigators believe Laffer began shooting when he suspected pharmacist Raymond Ferguson saw through his disguise and recognized him."

Let me know if you need any more evidence that your "die on your knees" philosophy is flawed.

good

Another piece of trash off the street. Too bad he didn't reach for a weapon, justice could have been served quickly.

Really

I really can't believe how ignorant you are for your words. You don't know this guy, you don't know his story and you wish him death? Wake up and get a life. Does anyone on here judging him know him? While what he did was wrong and he knows it you should never judge someone until you experience a day in their life.

Looking for ignorant? Check your mirror

You are correct in the fact I don't know him, I don't want to know him nor do I want to be around him. He is a criminal that committed armed robbery. Why should I foul up my life so I can "experience a day in their life?" Life is all about choices and either the rewards or repercussions of those same choices. He chose to rob a bank. His choices will now be much limited due to being locked up.

Stupid

No one needs to experience a day in anyones life to judge. Do I need to go back in time and live in Hitlers shoes? Don't be a boob. People are judged based on their actions. Your buddy comes up short. I have no issues with hanging him from a large oak tree. Next time he may kill someone. To hell with him and you. Very little room left on this planet for the scum.

What

What would have happened had he drawn a gun? An officer could have been shot. You are an idiot.

some ppl have no life

while I'm glad to see this scumbag off the streets, this crime in no way is deserving of his life

Long time gone

Where have you been over the last few years Scally Wagg?

You are the idiot, Guest for the day

No, the thief would have been shot dead. Then the taxpayers wouldn't have to support him while he is in jail. You can't really be that slow, can you?

haha you're right. it would

haha you're right. it would have had a better ending that way!

i know this individual and

i know this individual and just goes to show he should have kept up his program and he wouldn't have ever been in a situation like this that he put himself in! maybe this time he will get it and straighten his life up.

HORRIBLE!

These comments are ridiculous! You know nothing about this boy and his desperation! My sister has been dating this kid for about a year now and he has gone through some terrible stuff! He acted out of desperation and saying he should have been killed is something terrible to post online. I love him and wish him the best!

another addict hit ROCK bottom

Let me star off by saying his girlfriend doesnt even have a sister u wanna check look at his Facebook page you will see whats real so lets stop pretending. But thats beside the point. This is to all yall judgemental people that are so quick to judge. Brenden did not deserve to die he didnt even have a gun but he did have a drug problem. I have known Brenden for a while and know that if he hadbeen sober and in his right.mind he would not have done this. Let me just end this by saying I hope and pray that when the addict in all yall judgemental people s life acts out by doing something so out of character that u have people that wl support you and just not sit back and judge.

Well, now he'll go off to rehab

A few years at Raleigh Central should let him get straight.

Buddy, I lost a beautiful friend to drug addiction. She loved her crack more than life itself. Until they bottom out, they don't WANT your understanding and help. Until they turn around and realize that they have cut loose every single person in the world who ever cared about them and they are totally alone, nothing matters to them except the endless thirst for their drug of choice.

The WORST thing you can do is to continue supporting them and reassuring them that you'll always be there, regardless of their conduct.

Really?

First of all, he is not a kid. He is 26 - he should act like a grown up. There are many that had bad lives when they were growing up (Michal Jordan) comes to mind, but he didn't go out and rob in desperation.

There are many supporting families on less a year than his bond - they don't go out robbing. So stop excusing him. He screwed up big time and he will have to pay for it. He could have lost his life if someone would have had a gun and decided to shoot him. He didn't so be glad of it. And as for your sister,, she may be glad he is not in her life now. What if he had involved her and she got hurt. You would be screaming for justice.

Why is your sister dating scum?

Who CARES about his oh-so-difficult life? It's likely his fault anyway, because his conduct proves that he's incapable of making sensible life choices.

He is a LOSER, and the fact that your sister and you can't recognize that doesn't speak well for your choices, either!

geez

26 is NOT a kid. He is a low life criminal, you get what you deserve.

So.....

So, what would you think if he had involved your sister in this and she was hurt or killed!!! I struggle every month to try and make ends meet. I have a 13 y/o son and my wife and I each have 2 jobs. We don't rob, steal, assault, or kill people. We may complain a little. But what we do on a daily basis is worked hard and pay our bills. You cannot tell me this could could not get a job and work. Sometimes pride has to be out aside and flip some burgers if you have to. There are no excuses what so ever to use desparation for an excuse to break the law.
