WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Kids all over the Cape Fear now have some new clothes after the first ever Wilmington ‘peace. love. swap.’ event this weekend.

‘Peace. love. swap.’ was born in California. It’s an organization all about swapping children’s clothes, toys and other necessities as well as maternity clothes. Wilmington mom of one Samantha DeFere decided to bring the idea to the Port City.

To participate, you bring a bag of items you no longer use or need and five bucks; then you get to shop and swap for like-new things.

“The importance of doing it is that it keeps clothes out of landfills,” DeFere said. “It’s really important to be able to come, bring your clothes, swap them out instead of throwing them away; swap them out for things that are new to you.”

DeFere plans to host another swap soon. For more information, visit http://peaceloveswap.com.
