WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Kodak is getting out of the camera business. As one of the original makers of the film camera, Kodak is making the move to save more than $100 million.

The bankrupt printing and imaging company announced it will stop making digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames in an effort to cut costs.

Local camera and antique stores say it’s the end of an era.

“It’s sad, because we all grew up with Kodaks, as our parents and our grandparents did,” antique store owner Tom Richardson said. “It’s a part of Americana. We really hate to see go away.”

The company says it will now focus on its printers, online gallery, local kiosks and camera film. Kodak also says it will still honor any existing warranties and provide technical support.
