LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Tim Jayne tried to get his old job back this morning.
Twelve days after being fired as Leland Police Chief, Jayne met with Town Manager David Hollis to make his case why he deserves to keep his job.
Hollis said Jayne's firing was part of his attempt to get things back on track in Leland after months of controversy sparked by allegations of misconduct and corruption WWAY was first to uncover.
Hollis says the appeal process is something department heads always have the option to do so their voices are heard by administration.
"It gives him a chance to say anything that may change my mind, and it gives me an opportunity to look at those things," Hollis said after meeting with Jayne this morning.
Hollis says he has 15 business days to review Jayne's appeal. He then must give jayne his decision in writing.
We tried to talk to Jayne this morning after the meeting, but he slipped out of a back door of Town Hall.
