RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- One of the first Democrats to announce his bid for North Carolina governor is involved in a protracted and messy divorce filled with nasty accusations.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports state Rep. Bill Faison of Orange County says he doesn't expect his personal life to interfere with his bid for governor. Faison says the nasty accusations are untrue.
The wealthy medical malpractice lawyer married Lindy Faison in 1988 and they had four children before deciding to split in 2008.
The continuing fight over assets includes Lindy Faison accusing her ex-husband of having an ongoing affair with a waitress. The back-and-forth accusations include that Lindy Faison either did all the chores on their farm or that she refused to do any work on it.
