WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY)– The Town of Wrightsville Beach took another step Thursday night to end a controversy involving police officers Robert Miller and Shaun Appler, who were both demoted and had a cut in pay.

Following a closed session meeting, Town Manager Bob Simpson read a statement saying Officers Miller and Appler had been subjected to disciplinary action as a result of their involvement in an investigation and detention of persons at a location outside the boundaries of the Town of Wrightsville Beach. There were no specific details about the location of the incident or the persons involved.

Mr. Simpson went on to say that the town investigation revealed no evidence of any criminal conduct.
