WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The threat of severe weather has forced the postponement of high school basketball games scheduled for tonight. This includes West Columbus at James Kenan and Cummings at West Bladen.

West Bladen was supposed to host Burlington Cummings in a third round boys state playoff game. WWAY has learned the Alamance-Burlington Schools superintendent has refused to let the team travel because of severe weather watches and warnings across the state.

All of the games below have been re-scheduled to Saturday at 1 pm except the West Bladen game. The NCHSAA has a mandate in place for the games to be played at 1pm, but the Knights received special permission from the NCHSAA to play at 4pm.

West Columbus at James Kenan boys 1pm
East Columbus at Goldsboro girls 1pm
Kinston at Croatan boys 1pm
Webb at Westover boys 1pm
Rocky Mount vs Hertford boys 1pm
SE Halifax vs. SW Onslow girls 1pm
Cummings at West Bladen boys 4pm

As of 3:15 p.m. the Clayton-New Hanover game is still on. Clayton has already departed for Wilmington. The Whiteville-Northwood game is still on. The Pack left Whiteville shortly around 12:30. The North Brunswick-Beddingfield game is still on as well. In fact the Scorpions left Leland around 3pm. On a related note we honored North Brunswick with our team of the week award on Thursday. Here’s a link to the video in case you haven’t seen it yet. http:wway.wcbi.com/video/2012/02/wways-thursday-night-sports-feb-23-uncw-edges-towson-womens-hoops

Currently most of North Carolina is under a Tornado Watch until 8:15 p.m.
