9 NC people indicted on drug, gun, robbery charges

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Police say they've arrested nine people
who were selling drugs and engaging in other criminal activity in a
north Charlotte neighborhood.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe said Monday the
arrests in the Hidden Valley neighborhood will send a message that
his department won't tolerate crime in the area. He says police
have received complaints about illicit activity in the neighborhood
for years.

Authorities say some of the activity took place in and around
motels in an area off Interstate 85.
The nine men arrested Monday face either state or federal drug,
gun and robbery charges.

Charlotte Mecklenburg police worked with several federal
agencies including the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms
and Explosives.
