WWAY anchors, reporters share love of reading during Read Across America

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Students at Forest Hills Global Elementary in Wilmington are learning this week just how important reading is from some of us who do it for a living.

Today WWAY’s Cacky Catlett visited Mrs. Freck’s class to send a very important message to first graders. It’s all part of Read Across America. It’s an annual event the week of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Students Cacky visited today are excited about reading.

“It lets me learn that bears eat grass, and they eat trees,” student Katie Fairbanks said.

Katie said she reads a lot at school, and it’s one of her favorite parts of the day.

Read Across America is happening at schools around the country all week. Many of us here at WWAY have been happy to take part.
