SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — The same storm system that ripped through the country and spawned dozens of tornadoes is fortunately weakening as it passes over our area.

We can still expect heavy rain and gusty winds Saturday as the cold front swings through. As the front moves offshore, cooler temperatures will filter in, but chilly, soaking rain will stick around through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. That rain is expected to really add up. Southeastern NC can expect to get between one-and-a-half to three inches of rain through Sunday afternoon.
