MAIDEN, NC (AP) -- More permits are being issued for Apple Inc., which has a data center in the North Carolina town of Maiden.
The Hickory Daily Record reported an erosion control permit that allows grading for a new building was issued last week, as was a stormwater grading permit. Also, an Atlanta construction company that's the major contractor for the work at the site filed for a building permit for a non-occupied equipment building.
Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., is building a private solar farm to help power its data center. Maiden town manager Todd Herms says Apple's original plans called for two identical data centers. One has been built so far.
Herms says he can't say if the company still plans to build the second one or is constructing something else.
