BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A college baseball pitcher in Brunswick County has etched his name in the record book after two fantastic performances on the mound.
Michael Green is the ace of the Brunswick Community College pitching rotation. So far this month, he’s been close to perfect and totally un-hittable.
“He threw a perfect game, then he threw a no-hitter,” Brunswick Community College baseball coach Robbie Allen said. “Back-to-back. I don’t think you can ask much more out of him other than that.”
“The no-hitter actually came against Patrick Henry. That’s a conference game. That was big,” Green said.
Green is currently 4-0 on the season. This time next year. He”ll be pitching for Winthrop University.
“He walks out on the field and has a presence out there along with a live fastball up around the up 80s touching 90, 91 occassionally,” Allen said.
Green says the strength of his pitching lately has been his slider.
“Hitting spots in good counts. Throwing the ball where I wanted to. The guys backing me up when I needed big plays,” Green said.
After two phenomenal outings, the big question is can Green make it three no-hitters in a row?
“I’m gonna be honest: I’ve never heard of back-to-back no-hitters, but I’ve definitely never of back-to-back-to-back, so I’d love to see it again,” Allen said.
Green will attempt to throw his third consecutive no-hitter Saturday. That will be a road game against Lenoir Community College.
