OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island has temporarily filled its open town manager position.

The town says it hired Tom Hogg of Garner yesterday to serve as interim town manager while the Town Council looks for a permanent replacement.

The council fired Jerry Walters in December. In February, Chad Hicks resigned as interim town manager to become town administrator in Caswell Beach.

The town says Hogg will officially start Monday. His normal working days will be Monday through Thursday.

Boss Hogg?

…but his last name is Hogg and he will be the interim Town Manager, not a “boss”, but you can keep on playing with the headline if you want. It was rather catchy, even though….corny. If you were a fish, you would be in the box, on ice right now!

Lost your sense of humor somewhere? Maybe you have a joke worthy last name too?

Are you having a really slow day or something? Or just slow in general Mr. Hogg?

Does this mean they finally paid the last one the money they still owed him?

Four 10 hour days, for a public servant. My opinion is that public offices should be open for the convenience of the public. That means they should be working Monday through Saturday, 2pm through 8pm so that the general public does not have to take time off from their jobs to get their business done. That’s a 36 hour week, less hours than the ‘regular’ working guy. Let them earn their high salaries and generous benefits.
