WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY)– Friends of New Hanover County Public Library are hosting their spring book sale all weekend and Monday-Wednesday this week.

Prices for most items are initially marked between $1-$3 with price cuts every two days. Wednesday all items will be reduced to a dime and stacks of books cost 50 cents per foot.

Friends of the Library book sales have raised $945,000 since 1983 and are hoping to reach the $1 million mark this year.

“Every penny that we make at the book sale goes directly back to the library,” says Paige Owens, Assistant Director of the library. “That money goes into special projects, additional books we couldn’t afford otherwise and some of our nifty programs like the loan of e-book readers.”

Books, DVD’s, CD’s and other materials on sale are primarily recycled items donated by other readers.

The bi-annual book sale is operated by volunteers.
