WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Part of one of Wilmington's most traveled roads will be closed for construction work this week. Starting Monday, Oleander Drive will be shut down between Mimosa Place and Dawson Street. The Department of Transportation and CSX will work on the railroad tracks in that area causing the closure.
David Goodson, owner of the Greenfield Xchange antique store, says the closure will make for a tough week.
"Traffic is critical here for our business, because we depend on strictly traffic flow," Goodson sadi. "We have repeat business, but if they've got to go out of their way to get here, it's going to really affect our bottom line."
The DOT has signs up to make drivers aware of the change. They advise eastbound and westbound travelers to use Shipyard Blvd. instead.
The closed stretch of Oleander Drive is expected to reopen Thursday around 11 p.m.
