CONOVER, NC (AP)– Construction crews will close a section of eastbound Interstate 40 near Conover during the overnight hours for nearly the next two weeks.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said I-40 east between exit 130 and exit 132 will close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Sunday and going through April 5. Crews are shutting the lanes so they can continue to replace the NC Highway 16 bridge over the interstate.
The DOT says detours will be marked, but motorists should expect delays. The bridge project should be finished in November.
