WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Two local chefs used their best culinary skills as they squared off Monday night in Wrightsville Beach. “Fire on The Dock” kicked off at Shell Island Resort.
Chef Antoine Murray of the Cape Fear Country Club and Chef Pat Green of Elijah’s went head-to-head, each serving up six dishes to diners.
Adding to the competitive edge, the chefs had to incorporate North Carolina flounder in three of their courses.
“They can’t cook from their restaurants menu. They can’t cook their signature items. They have to create off-the-cuff, only with items that we give them off of our truck and create three courses, each of them six blind courses that we, the diner, get to eat and it’s just fun,” event host Jimmy Crippen said.
After the diners’ votes were tallied, Chef Antoine Murray was served up the winning title. Some of his dishes included warm salad of North Carolina flounder and blackened flounder.
Sixteen chefs from across the region are competing to win two thousand dollars. Other regional challenges are being hosted in Blowing Rock, Raleigh and Greensboro.
