ELIZABETHTOWN,NC (news release from East Bladen High School) — Coach Lenon Fisher has announced to the East Bladen High School administration that he will retire from his post as football coach and physical education teacher effective June 30, 2012.
Coach Fisher has roamed the halls and sidelines of East Bladen since 1980, winning 250 plus football games, numerous conference championships, Easter Regional appearances and an Eastern Regional Championship. In 2010, East Bladen’s stadium was renamed Lenon Fisher Stadium to honor his stellar accomplishments and overall contributions to the school.
“ Coach Fisher is a tremendous football coach, educator, and role model. His presence and hard work have probably been one of the best dropout prevention programs in our school. He has not only coached football and won games, but he has established relationships with young men that helped them graduate from high school and move into the next phases of their lives. You can never replace a coach like that. He will always be a part of East Bladen and this community. The administration, faculty, staff, and students of our school thank Coach Fisher for his dedication, relentless work ethic, and for the many, many great moments that he created for Eagle athletics. He has earned the right to enjoy his family and other interests”, said East Bladen principal Jeremy Batchelor.
East Bladen will begin its search for its next football coach right away, however, does not have a specific timeline for naming a new coach.
