FORT WORTH, TX (UNCW sports release) -- Andrew Mitchell fanned 10 hitters over 6 2/3 shutout innings as TCU blanked UNCW, 4-0, in college baseball action on Friday at Lupton Stadium.

The win halts a three-game slide for the Horned Frogs and ups their record to 15-13. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 16-14 overall and 3-12 when scoring less than five runs.

Mitchell (3-2) opened the game striking out five of the first six Seahawks he faced. He pitched out of trouble in both the third and sixth innings, but escaped unscathed as UNCW lined into a pair of double plays.
UNCW starter Mat Batts (2-4) was the hard-luck loser for UNCW, allowing four runs, just one earned, over 7 1/3 innings. He surrendered eight hits and walked one while striking out five.

Jerrick Suiter, who finished two hits and a pair of RBIs, gave TCU a lead in the third with a two-out RBI single. The Horned Frogs also took advantage of a pair of Seahawks errors in the eighth inning to plate three runs and make a 4-0 TCU advantage. Hunter Ridge with two hits was the only Seahawk with a multiple hit game.
Braden Mattson added two hits for TCU.

The series concludes on Saturday with a 2 p. m. CST start.
