WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Azalea Festival week is upon us. Among the many events is the Historic Wilmington Foundation’s annual Azalea Festival Home Tour.

The proceeds from the tour help restore and preserve sites around Wilmington. The organization has helped save more than 200 homes from demolition over the years.

If you take the Home Tour you will see a variety of styles and structures, from smaller homes to an old fire house.

“We’ve got everything this year from the early 19th century into what is called a contemporary in-fill house, which is I think built about 2005,” HWF’s George Edwards said.

Edwards says diversity is a core focus when selecting which houses will be featured in the home tour each year.

We’ll preview stops on the Home Tour all this week on WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 5:30 and 11 p.m. and “Good Morning Carolina.”
