DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Police in Durham say 10 people face a total of 25 felony and 44 misdemeanor charges following a two-month undercover operation targeting organized retail theft.
A statement from Durham police Friday said the operation was launched after investigators received complaints that stolen goods were allegedly being sold at certain businesses.
Investigators from local and state agencies served search warrants at seven locations and seized items ranging from firearms and $14,000 in cash to more than 100 cartons of cigarettes and counterfeit merchandise,
Warrants were served at several stores and one apartment in Durham.
This latest operation is the third in recent months by Durham police. In 2011, investigators arrested 12 people after serving search warrants at five convenience stores and one grocery store.
