WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With the fire season just getting underway both New Hanover and Pender Counties have already seen their fair share of flashing lights.

Firefighters say sparks from a train started the small brushfire this afternoon in New Hanover County. It happened off US 421 behind Ferguson Waterworks.

Firefighters say they got the fire under control quickly.

They say they usually get a couple fires a year that start the way.
