Teen dies in crash

Brunswick County, NC (WWAY) -- A teenager is dead after crashing his SUV near Varnamtown Saturday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Ryan Dilworth ran off Standbury Road coming out of a curve, overcorrected, then ran off the lefthand side of the road. He overcorrected again, causing the SUV to flip over.

Dilworth was not wearing a seatbelt. He was thrown from the SUV.

Troopers say neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the accident.

Dilworth's father is a Holden Beach police sergeant.

To Frank,Rene' and girls, May you find peace and comfort knowing that Ryan is with God now and is one of His angels. He will be missed by all. Cherish his precious memories, from that first little kiss he gave you as a baby to the little hugs around your neck as a child and to that first firm handshake you taught him as a young man. You taught him well. Lean on God for everlasting love and support. God loves you all and so do we. Marsha & Tim Caulder, Leland,NC

Ryan was my daughter's friend. She thought a lot of Ryan. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

I have known this family for years. Ryan was a very sweet boy. He will be missed so much. Our prayers go out to the family.
