CHARLOTTE, NC (AP)– A man has been convicted of stealing video game systems from a Charlotte children’s hospital.

The Charlotte Observer reported that 47-year-old Charles Everette Hinton of Charlotte was convicted Wednesday of felony
breaking and entering and felony larceny. The registered sex offender also was found guilty of being illegally on the premises of a facility used to treat minors.

Hinton was sentenced to at least 21 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Hinton broke into an area of Levine Children’s Hospital and took video game systems and other devices in December 2010. The game systems were used by children who were receiving cancer treatments at the hospital. Hospital officials say four PlayStations, an Xbox and Nintendo DS system all were taken.

Hinton was spotted on surveillance video in the hospital.
