ELIZABETHTOWN,NC (news release from East Bladen) — East Bladen High School has made a recommendation to the superintendent for its next head football coach. After a thorough and efficient process that included a committee of community stakeholders, Mr. Robert Priest, a current assistant coach and teacher at East Bladen, has been recommended to fill the position pending approval from the Board of Education. The board meets on May 14.
“We want to thank all of the individuals that expressed interest in our school. We are filling a position left vacant after the retirement of a coach that dedicated his career to this school. Thus, we were seeking an individual that understands the East Bladen tradition and also welcomes the opportunity to take our program to even greater heights in the future. Coach Priest gives us just that. He is a former East Bladen player and has coached at East Bladen since 1997. It is his time. I believe he will work with his coaching staff and the entire East Bladen community to produce not only winning teams but winners in life. That is what the committee and I were searching for and we believe Coach Priest will deliver. This is an exciting time for East Bladen High School.” stated East Bladen Principal Jeremy Batchelor.
