WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina Special Olympics is hosting a special “Celebrity Night” tonight to help raise funds for the organization.

The event will be held at the Golden Corral on New Centre Drive from 6-8 p.m.

Last year, Special Olympics raise more than $1 million for local athletes. The funds enable intellectually disabled athletes of all ages to participate in the North Carolina and World Games.

The event is also being sponsored by the Law Enforcement Torch Run and the New Hanover Correctional Facility.

You might know that it would be idiot State Employees who sponsor a function on a major election night. The cause was worthwhile but the preparation is another fine example of staff at the Prison being as moronic as some of the inmates. The date for the primary election has been know for months and their lack of thinking hurt the idea of raising money for Special Olympics. You guards need to continue your non rehabilitation of inmates and let real Law Enforcement handle Special Olympics. You know the ones who actually prevent crime and enforce laws, not key lock turners!
