RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton has edged former US Rep. Bob Etheridge in the Democratic primary for North Carolina governor, setting up a general election race with Republican Pat McCrory.

Dalton had 46 percent of the vote compared to 38 percent for Etheridge with about two-thirds of the precincts reporting unofficial results in the six-candidate primary. Dalton had enough to avoid a runoff – the threshold is above 40 percent. State Rep. Bill Faison was a distant third at 6 percent.

Dalton is a Rutherfordton attorney and former state senator who was elected lieutenant governor in 2008. He got in the governor’s race when incumbent Beverly Perdue decided not to seek re-election.

McCrory lapped the field of five other candidates in Tuesday’s Republican primary, receiving more than 83 percent of the vote.

And then he woke up….

Every democrat office holder in this state is probably soiling their britches right now. The overall numbers are obvious that come November, all the tax and spend liberals will be toast, including that communist in the white house.

Bev Perdue produced a child, it would have been Walter Dalton. First, the Education Governor — let’s spend money the state does not have on a system which currently is not succeeding. No Wait, I’m the Jobs Governor, at least that was the focus of his more recent tv ads.

Next up, I’m Hollywood Walter.

And given time, he would be the Junket Walter, assuming Bev leaves state aircraft for his use when her term expires.

After 12 years of failure, one would hope he would get the message.

Perhaps the issue is he has not been trained for any other role in life than Politician.
