WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington attorney and CPA wants to run for the new NC House District 20 seat, but he’ll have to take an unusual path to get there.

Filing for public office ended in late February. That means J. Wesley Casteen will have to do a petition drive to get on the ballot in November. If successful, Casteen would be listed as an unaffiliated candidate on the ballot with Republican Rick Catlin and Democrat Tom Gale.

The legislature created District 20 when it redrew legislative boundaries after the 2010 Census. The new district covers much of northern New Hanover County.
