US Marine at Fort Bragg accused in girl's rape

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A U.S. Marine attending training at
Fort Bragg is accused by civilian authorities with raping a
12-year-old girl.

Arrest warrants show 27-year-old Sgt. Brandon Bowman is charged
with two counts of first-degree sex offense and one count each of
first-degree rape of a child and taking indecent liberties with a
minor. He was arrested on Wednesday.

Bowman was stationed in Huntingdon, England. He was attending a
pre-deployment class at the post.

Detectives said Bowman met the alleged victim through the
Internet and arranged to meet her in a wooded area, where officers
found them on April 29.

Bowman is jailed under nearly $2.3 million bond, and court
documents say he is scheduled to be transferred by the military. It
couldn't be determined if Bowman has an attorney.
