WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council has approved plans for the Hotel Indigo project that would encroach onto city property. Plans for the hotel, a project by Riverfront Holdings LLC, call for architectural elements that extend would overhang onto the right of way areas on Nutt St, N. Front St, and Hanover St.

This measure passed the council 6 to 1. Councilman Kevin O’Grady was the only dissenting vote. He voted no stating that he thought was just a way for the hotel to build a bigger building for free.

Construction could begin by the end of the year.
