PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Schools will operate on a one-hour delay for students and staff except emergency personnel Thursday.

The district announced the delay Wednesday afternoon after Tropical Depression Beryl moved through the area.

The district cited standing water on numerous highways as a concern. It said the one-hour delay will provide time for the school district’s transportation staff to check roads and let bus drivers see standing water, if any.
