WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — You may have noticed a large boat docked on the riverfront in downtown Wilmington this week. Its stop in the Port City was not on its itinerary.

The Queen of the Mississippi is waiting out Tropical Depression Beryl.

The one-of-a-kind cruise ship features a new paddlewheel, and those renovations took it to Maryland. The crew says they will head back to New Orleans Friday.

Hate to break it to you guys at WWAY, but this “renovated” boat is actually a brand-new steamboat, and that information is everywhere. You should get your facts straight before making a story…

The QUEEN OF THE MISSISSIPPI is a replica riverboat. She is not steam-powered nor does she carry steam aboard her.
