CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Area shaggers and beach music lovers enjoyed a day of fun in the sun in Carolina Beach.

The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce hosted the 27th Annual Carolina Beach Music Festival at the historic boardwalk.

Carolina Beach is home to the only music festival of its kind that happens on the sand, and it’s the longest-running festival of its kind in the country.

WWAY’s Chris Phillips and Cacky Catlett also came out to join in the fun, Handing out koozies and mingling with the crowd.

Missed it again. But the statement the only one of it’s kind on the sand well maybe in NC but I went to one in Virginia Beach just 2 wks ago. 3 days of beach music on the sand & it was all FREE. Had a blast with my family. We were able to set up our chairs & leave them there overnite & no one bothered them. Dancing on the sand, the ocean right there w/ various beach music bands playing every 2hrs from noon – 10pm. It was VB’s 18th annual so CB has them beat on that. Hope everyone had fun.
