WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) — The New Hanover County school board got tentative good news about the district’s state funding at the board meeting Tuesday.

Education budgets that passed the North Carolina House of Representatives would give about $5 million back to the district, said Mary Hazel Small, the district’s chief financial officer. But the dollars were still in the probable stage because the N.C. Senate has not yet presented its budgets, Small said.

Also Tuesday, the school board was told that school lunch prices for kindergarten through eighth-grade students will increase next year, going up to $2.10 for those students.

I want to thank all who participate in Home Schooling, And virtual charter schools. The Public School system “Failed Me” and Failed My Children. I hardly pass the 10th grade at North Brunswick HS. I could see the writing on the wall, so I dropped out and joined the USArmy. And the stories I could tell about the teacher would land several in Prison. Latter I attended College and carried a 3.8 GPA in Law just to prove a point about my High School. I’m not smart or educated, it was that the Public Education System was a failure, I’m proof. So keep up the good work. I will promote Home Schooling, and Virtual School where I can.
