WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some elementary school graduates in Wilmington had a special visitor today.

East Carolina football coach Ruffin McNeill provided some words of wisdom for the fifth grade graduates at Bradley Creek Elementary School.

McNeill, a Lumberton native, told the kids to stay out of trouble and focus on school.

“Education is very important,” he said. “I think it is the most important tool now a young person or even a middle school person or a teenager or college person needs to have, and that’s one of the weapons we need to keep.”

McNeill spoke about life lessons and encouraged children to continue working hard. He said his own version of ABC stands for “Avoid Bad Company.”
