BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The upgrade to the National Weather Service’s Shallotte radar site was finished Thursday morning.

The radar is now up and running again, meaning meteorologists will not have to rely on surrounding radars to monitor storms.

The site was down for approximately seven days for the dual polarization installation. This new technology will give meteorologists more tools to track storms when they hit the area.
