WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- On Friday night's sports we showcased the Wilmington Hammerheads road game against Rochester. We had a Sharks update, a Sea Dawgs update, a George Bryan sighting in Dallas and a preview of Saturday's roller derby bout in Carolina Beach. Click play video to see it all.

TOBACCO ROAD LEAGUE BASKETBALL
playoffs start on Thursday, June 14 for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs at 7pm against Cary or Prime Time.

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (news release) -- The Wilmington Sharks (7-4) outlasted the Morehead City Marlins (3-8) in 12 innings, 7-5 on a perfect night for baseball Friday evening in Morehead City.

The Sharks scored two runs in the top of the 12th inning against position player Drew Woodall (0-1) who walked five and walked in two runs without giving up a hit in his only inning of work.

The Marlins led 4-1 after one inning of play after Geoff DeGroot scored on a single by Chad Shannon and Ryan Cranmer unloaded a three-run home run to left field. Then, each team scored a run in the third inning, when Sam Ott scored on a single by Cranmer.

The Sharks plated two runs in the fourth inning as Cole McInturff drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and Aaron Preston lined an RBI-single to make the score 5-4. Then in the fifth inning, the Sharks scored again on an RBI-double by Zach Stephens to tie the game at 5-5.

Nick Bruns (1-0) earned the win, tossing a three scoreless innings in relief and allowing just three hits. Andrew Brockett notched his second save in as many nights shutting the door 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Raphael Guerrero, Ryan Oglesby and A.J. Goetz combined to throw seven innings out of the bullpen for the Marlins and allowed just one run on one hit. Sam Ott, Sal Annunziata and Cranmer all had multi-hit games while Ott scored twice.

The Marlins are back on the field tomorrow as they hit the road to take on the Edenton Steamers in their first match-up of the season. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with the live broadcast on CPL WebPass beginning approximately 10 minutes prior to first pitch.

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (news release) -- The Cape Fear Roller Girls invite all local media and the public to participate in the excitement of our double-header on Saturday June 9th, 2012. The Cape Fear Roller All-Stars will be battling with the Richland County Regulators and Cape Fear Black Harrts will vie for a victory in in a bout versus the Bad News Babes of Greenville. The event will take place at the Carolina Beach Recreation Center. It’s located at 1121-B North Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach NC 28428.

Doors will open at 3:00 p.m. The Black Harrts play first at 4pm with the All Star main event immediately following at 6pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and may be purchased online at www.capefearrollergirls.com or at Jelly Beans. Students, military, and Children (12& under) discounts at door. Arrive early to get a good seat.

A portion of the proceeds from this bout go to help the New Hanover County Humane Society.
