WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Wilmington resident Corinne Edwards was crowned the new Mrs. North Carolina United States 2012 on June 1st at Newton-Conover Auditorium in Newton, NC. Christy Creson of Hickory finished 1st Runner Up, Rebecca Stewart of Newton finished 2nd Runner Up, Saare White of Fayetteville finished 3rd Runner Up, Dr. Ginger Herbert of Cornelius finished 4th Runner Up, Kristen Wilkins of Charlotte finished 5th Runner Up, and Ashley Harkrader of Charlotte finished 6th Runner Up in the pageant of 18 of NC’s best married ladies!
The rest of the Top 12 finalists were made up of Kathryn Hancock Stuart of Union County, Autumn-Skye Boothe of Davidson, Kendra Leatherman of Hickory, Catherine Kyllingstad of Jacksonville, and Rebekah Castro of Concord.
The Mrs. North Carolina United States Pageant is the only pageant qualified to be a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Bronze Award recipients (100-249 hours of community service this past year) were: Rebecca Stewart of Hickory, Kathryn Hancock Stuart of Union County, Saare White of Fayetteville, Ashley Harkrader of Charlotte, Christy Creson of Hickory, Autumn-Skye Boothe of Davidson, Beatriz Gill of Vass, Cherie Chandler of Hickory, and Corinne Edwards of Wilmington. Silver Award recipients (250-499 hours of community service this past year): Dr. Ginger Herbert of Cornelius and Jennifer Shelton Watkins of Garner. Awarded the prestigious Gold Presidential Service Award for over 500+ community service hours this past year, was presented to our Mrs. NC 2011, Debbie Miller, of Mooresville.
Other award receipients: Civic & Photogenic Award- Dr. Ginger Herbert, Evening Gown- Christy Creson, Ad Page- Autumn-Skye Boothe, Mrs. Congeniality – Beatriz Gill, Fitness Award- Corinne Edwards, People’s Choice- Ashley Harkrader, Interview Winner- Corinne Edwards.
Judges consisted of Mayor Rudy Wright of Hickory, John Coffey of Hickory, Leslie Stephens of Charlotte, John Hood of Raleigh, and John Rambo of Hickory.
Corinne Edwards will go on to compete at the National Mrs. United States Pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 8 – 13. She is the wife of Wingate Edwards, they have one son, Walt, 2 years old. Corinne is a mathematics teacher at a local school, model, and actress. She has been an avid advocate for JDRF for 12 + years and state JDRF Spokesperson.
