RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Organizers of a celebration scheduled to kick off the Democratic National Convention are moving the Labor Day event from Charlotte Motor Speedway to the city’s uptown.

Charlotte In 2012 spokeswoman Suzi Emmerling said late Monday that as the date of the event drew closer, logistics became a challenge. Emmerling said moving the celebration to uptown Charlotte near the convention venue would make it more accessible and family friendly. The speedway is about 18 miles outside the city.

The convention has already been shortened from the traditional four days to three to have a day to celebrate the region.

The convention is being held at Charlotte’s Time Warner Arena. President Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech on Sept. 6 is scheduled for Bank of America Stadium. Both arenas are in downtown Charlotte.

This is the difference between Democrats and Republicans. I absolutely despised Former President Bush, but I always referred to him as President Bush, the respect and dignity the office deserves. Too many republicans unfortunately don’t have the class to do the same, whether they like the current occupant of the White House or not. The office of the President deserves respect.

I would add too, the amount of racist and ignorant emails I get making fun of Democrats is really shameful. It just goes to show which party has more class.

“Logistics became a challenge” translation: the DNC host committee had a $36.6 million goal but only raised $10 million. They also originally planned for the event to be 4 days but scaled it back to 3, also due to “logistics” I’m sure. Don’t worry, Barry will still be there to fill your minds with gobbledygook. “When you can’t raise the cash ’cause your policy’s trash….that’s logistics”!

If only the Occu-twinkies would give up World of Witchcraft 4 for Play Station, they could donate the money their parents would save and the Commucrats could trash Lowes Motor Speedway.

I’ll ignore that you inferred that Republicans have no class, are ignorant, and are racist in your cry for civil discourse. My…what a short and selective memory my friends on the left have. George W. Bush, who was certainly not one of my favorite political figures, was called a war criminal, a murderer, and hung in effigy in the streets. Does that fall into the category of “respect and dignity the office deserves”? I called him “Barry”. That’s the name President Obama went by in high school, when he was “using drugs enthusiastically”. I’m so, so sorry that my comments hurt your feelings. PS- nice typical deversion from the topic. Enjoy your DNC Kick-off party at the Charlotte Uptown Cracker Barrel. Bring me back a commemorative “You’re Doing Fine 2012” coffee mug…Thanks in advance.
