CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — People from around the Cape Fear converged on Carolina Beach Tuesday night to kick off Independence Day one day early.

The crowd, full of young and old, gathered at the Boardwalk awaiting the much-anticipated fireworks display. Folks enjoyed live music, carnival rides and fried foods. Amid all of the fun, people we talked with also reflected on the importance of the Fourth of July.

“I think about all of the people that have sacrificed for us to be here, to be able to hang out on the beach and watch fireworks,” Bob Wilcox said.

Fireworks launched at 9 p.m. topping off the night’s events.

KUDOS TO CB. I DIDN’T SEE ANYTHING IN THE NEWS AS TO THE EVENT, SO I WONDERED ABOUT THE FIREWORKS TUESDAY NITE. HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME. WHY DO YOU HAVE THE CRAZY LETTERS AT THE BOTTOM? IS IT TO DETER VOTING ON CERTAIN MATTERS? I CAN’T MAKE OUT ALL OF THE LETTER AT THE BOTTOM, SO I DON’T KNOW IF MY COMMENT COUNTS OR NOT.
