WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the third time in three weeks, Salt Works II has had a brick thrown through its windows.

The owners of the restaurant on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington are angry and offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest.

Co-owner Mike Thyberg says police have several leads but not enough evidence to catch anyone.

“I am very angry,” Thyberg said. “We work very hard. Everyone in this building works hard for their money, and for somebody to come and break in and try and take it for themselves. It’s ridiculous. It’s infuriating.”

Thyberg says he’s been an owner for three years and has never been through a break-in. He’s hopeful someone will come forward.

All the break-ins happened in the middle of the night.

I’d camp out in the restaurant overnight with a 12ga pump shot gun and “greet” them when they came inside with a little warm lead. Seems that’s the only thing some people understand.

Sounds like a well-trained dog could be of service, here. Cops are usually effective only after the fact. They can’t see everything that’s going on. After 3 break-ins, if I were the owner, I would be coming up with a plan.

Go talk to the owner of that convenience store down the street from you. You know, the one that arms their clerks and teaches them to shoot? Seems that’s the only way to stop crime in Wilmington; WPD either can’t seem to figure out what to do about it, or doesn’t have the stones to put a stop to it.

Sounds to me like a group/gang of under age minors running a muck in the middle of the night. A curfew should exist in your neighborhood. Bored children without supervision often run the roads and break glass at night.”I know what we can do,let’s go break their window again.Hee,Hee”

Right at Bonham and Wrightsville and the drunk crowds coming out of the Coat of Arms down the street. Id beat dollar to donuts somebody from that crowd is responsible. More then once you could hear drunks whooping and hollaring walking down Wrightsville near or after closing time making loads of noise heading that direction. But I have to agree after 3 breakins Mike you might wanna go down to Sams and buy you a cheap security camera system or even one of the smaller ones from Best Buy (which you can buy cameras individually and monitor via internet). Dude as the saying goes first time shame on them, 2nd time shame on you. 3rd time your just being stupid and not protecting your property. Theres a pattern and if you continue to just whine and be a victim thats what you’ll continue to be. Sorry but its the truth and in this case the truth is honestly raw

Out of curiousity, what type of security camera stops bricks from going through a window. Sounds like these folks are just trying to get any info that could be floating around. I eat there frequently and it’s not hard to notice cameras around the restaurant.

You need to have a security company come&put a security in your restaurant thats better answer for you.Because if you have another,
break in again you have the wilmington polices deptment right there.
